60% Of Job Seekers Are Looking For Remote Work Opportunities, Study Says

Remote work allows people to find cross-regional job opportunities, save money and time, and be more flexible. Companies can access talent across borders, save money and increase productivity.

ZipRecruiter has conducted a study to learn about the most recent remote work trends, particularly in job search and recruiting. The following are some of the study’s findings.

60% of Job Seekers Prefer Remote Work

According to the report, more than 60% of job candidates want to work from home. Furthermore, 20% preferred to work entirely remotely, while 40% preferred to work mostly remotely. Throughout the year, job seekers’ preferences for working remotely remained quite consistent.

In order to work remotely, job seekers are also willing to accept a pay drop. The survey found that job searchers were often willing to accept a 14% wage reduction in order to work from home. This seems to be in line with studies done the previous year.

For instance, a research conducted by beqom last year found that 64% of respondents were willing to accept a lower salary in exchange for the freedom to work from any location. Interestingly, the study by ZipRecruiter found that younger workers are more likely to give up a larger portion of their pay than older workers.

Job candidates with young children appreciated remote employment the highest. As their salaries rise, job applicants demand flexibility more as well.

Employing women and minorities is made possible by remote work

The survey found that women are more likely than men to prefer remote work for a number of reasons. For instance, they may be the primary caregiver at home and want to balance work and family responsibilities. The percentage of women seeking remote employment has declined slightly as the impact of the pandemic has faded, but still remains above 65%. Therefore, the employment and retention of women can be promoted through remote work.

Additionally, for a variety of factors, minorities are more likely than whites to favor remote work. Therefore, remote employment can aid businesses in luring more applicants from underrepresented groups.

Bottom line

According to the survey, remote work has a number of advantages for both people and businesses. It helps the right talent locate opportunities. Additionally, it aids businesses in locating qualified talent internationally. Finally, it can also aid in easing the financial strain on both people and organizations.
