As technology evolves, so does the way we incorporate it into our lives. As such, travel technology company Amadeus has revealed new developments that will impact the way we travel in 2023.
Daniel Batchelor, vice president, global corporate marketing, communications and social responsibility for Amadeus was quoted saying that, “technology is enabling us to reach these goals.”
These goals are a combination of people wanting to emphasize human relationships all whilst having a lesser impact on the planet. The landscape for travel is rapidly shifting thanks to the use of the metaverse and biometrics which are the tools that allow these goals to happen.
The new trends can simply be broken down to the below according to Batchelor:
Exploring the metaverseNew biometric possibilitiesThe ability to work from anywhereTraveling lightMore business bonding opportunities
Amadeus is predicting that the metaverse will act as a pseudo-travel agent moving forward. It will allow companies to take traveler engagement to a new level.
From tailoring specific trips towards certain activities, planning trips based on shared likings, the online virtual world will also offer those to virtually experience before visiting.
Amadeus is also predicting that biometric payments via ApplePay and GooglePay will be ubiquitous in all travel verticals. Travelers will be able to use these platforms to pay for any and everything from leaving their door to check out. From upgrades, in-flight meals and more via convenient and secure touchless payment solutions.
As people are more conscious of their carbon footprint, traveling light is also an emerging trend they see forthcoming. Travelers can travel with less baggage and lean on hotels and resorts to rent the larger and bulkier gear.
The nomadic lifestyle will also grow in the workplace with the continued rise of countries incentivizing digital nomads through visas and incentives.
And last but certainly not least, business travel will come back but in a different way. Companies will look at retreats and other alternatives to strengthen relationships away from the office.
