In 1993, the Park Trust completed the preservation of a 30-acre island on the Potomac River, adjacent to the Chesapeake and Ohio National Historical Park. Oxley Island was incorporated, as one of 30 islands, into the State of Maryland Islands of the Potomac Wildlife Management Area.
The area, administered by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, stretches from Oxley Island near White’s Ferry downstream to Beall’s Island in Potomac, MD. It is open to multiple recreational uses such as hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, and birdwatching.
