The Turks and Caicos Islands Tourist Board is thrilled to announce that the country has been nominated for three World Travel Awards in 2022: World’s Leading Beach Destination, World’s Leading Island Destination, and World’s Most Romantic Destination. Voting Closes on October 20th!

“It is a special honor for the Turks and Caicos Islands to be a nominee of not one, but three World Travel Awards, as well as to be globally recognized as a world-class destination”, said Acting Director of Tourism, Mary Lightbourne.

“This is truly a testament to all of the Turks and Caicos Islands’ tourism stakeholders’ hard work. I highly encourage everyone to thank them for their efforts by taking the time to vote for the Turks and Caicos Islands for the mentioned awards”, added Lightbourne.

On November 11, 2022, a Ritz-Carlton hotel in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman, will host the World Travel Awards Grand Final Ceremony.

The World Travel Awards are the highest honor in the World Travel Awards program.

On Wednesday, August 31, 2022, Montego Bay, Jamaica, played home to the Caribbean & The Americas Gala Ceremony of the World Travel Awards.

The Turks & Caicos Islands received an incredible eight nominations and took home two prizes for Best Beach Destination in the Caribbean and Best Romantic Destination in the Caribbean. Since 2015, the Turks and Caicos Islands have won the former title every year; from 2012 to 2014, Grace Bay Beach took home the prize. The Turks and Caicos Islands have won the latter four times in a row.

The tourism sector in the Turks & Caicos Islands has had a very prosperous year in 2022. According to preliminary Q1 data, the Turks and Caicos Islands welcomed 98.5% as many stayover tourists as they did in Q1 2019, which was one of the busiest travel seasons in the islands’ history.

According to a Tripadvisor analysis published in August 2022, Turks and Caicos Islands was the most popular tourist destination in the world this fall. Turks and Caicos Islands was identified in the report as the destination with the fastest-growing demand, based on year-over-year growth, according to behavioral data and a consumer sentiment survey.

The Turks and Caicos Islands outperformed well-known and better-resourced tourism veterans such as London, Amalfi, Ho Chi Minh City and Bangkok. The Turks and Caicos Islands stood out from its regional peers by being the only Caribbean destination to make Tripadvisor’s Top 15 list.
