Dubai has been declared the best tourist destination in the world, leaving Paris, London, New York, and other competitors behind and cementing its position as a major hub for business and tourism. But how exactly has this recently established city overtaken other well-known and much older cities in popularity, and what makes it so worth visiting?
Based on “millions” of “real and unbiased” visitor reviews submitted over the course of a 12-month period, from November 1, 2021, to October 31, 2022, Dubai was named the top destination for the second consecutive year at the TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice Awards. Visitors praised the abundance of tourist activities offered and the top-notch service offered.
Forbes claims that His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, made “significant efforts” to promote Dubai, which has contributed to its success.
The Sheikh wants Dubai to become the “most visited” city in the world. Even though it has not yet won the title now held by Paris, Dubai is openly contesting it by spending a lot of money on tourism. And, believe it or not, Paris is about to lose its crown, as Dubai has already been voted the most popular wedding destination.

Due to the high quality of services offered, infrastructure, cleanliness, and safety levels that surpass those of other Western countries, Dubai is seeing an increase in demand among young visitors, particularly digital nomads.
Dubai is so secure that dozens of viral videos show residents using their phones and wallets to reserve seats at crowded restaurants or inside shops without having to worry about their personal belongings being stolen.
Some highways have speed limits of up to 140 km/h because the roads are so smooth and free of potholes. It is quite challenging to detect a piece of litter or a random graffiti tag.
Even requesting an Uber is a very different experience in Dubai than it is in many other places; the base car, designated as “Uber Comfort,” is typically a brand-new full-size Lexus or Tesla, and a 10-15 minute ride won’t set you back more than $10 to $12 USD.
It’s hard to understand how the cost of any service can go down when inflation has been the main news of the past year, but that’s exactly what happened to cab prices in Dubai a few weeks ago. The government called for lower cab fares in response to lower fuel prices so that both visitors and locals could benefit from the savings.
