Norse Atlantic Launches New Routes From Norway To U.S. With Fares Starting At $129 One-Way

Norse Atlantic Airways is launching new long-haul flights this summer, with fares starting at $129 one-way between Oslo, Norway, and a number of American destinations.

“Beginning June 14, Norse Atlantic Airways will begin providing direct service from Oslo Airport (OSL) to John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK), with service from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and Orlando International Airport (MCO) beginning June 20. More routes are expected to be added soon,” as per the Points Guy

Norse plans to operate a fleet of 14 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, called “Longships.”

The JFK and Los Angeles routes also represent a shift from the company’s initial route proposal. The original airports serving the New York City and Los Angeles markets were Stewart/Newburgh (SWF) and Ontario (ONT), respectively.

The move to a larger airport is the result of access to the necessary slots.

JFK flights, for example, depart at 11:55 p.m., after the transatlantic rush is over.

Los Angeles takes off at 6 p.m., which is late for an Atlantic trip from the West Coast. Flights from Oslo to Los Angeles will depart at 6:30 a.m., so the plane will be on the ground for a longer time. This will most likely depend on the number of slots available.

Travelers looking to save money on their summer plans should act quickly to take advantage of these “limited availability” discounts before they sell out.

The startup promises entry-level fares starting at $129 one-way, though that price only includes a small laptop bag or backpack and no meals.

Flights are offered in two cabins with premium and economy sections. “Light,” “Classic” and “Plus” are the three price and service options available in both cabins.

Economy Light tickets allow only one compact piece of luggage under the seat and there is a charge for carry-on baggage, flight changes and meals.

Economy Plus offers free seat selection, one checked bag, transferable tickets and priority boarding in addition to Economy Classic, which includes a free carry-on bag and meal.

Passengers in the Premium cabin enjoy larger seats, 35 percent more legroom, two meals and free carry-on baggage.

Premium Light passengers must pay for checked baggage and rebooking fees, Premium Classic passengers receive one free checked bag and Premium Plus passengers receive two free checked bags and no rebooking fees.
