As of today, June 20, travel restrictions in regards to entry into New Zealand have become removed.
Those entering New Zealand will no longer need to take a COVID-19 test prior to arrival as well as not be required to complete the New Zealand Traveler Declaration Form.
Another stark shift is that unvaccinated individuals are now allowed to transit through New Zealand. Scrapping these requirements will bring the country in line with an ever-growing list of countries that have gone away with Covid tests.
Facing increased pressure from both travel and tourism industries and aligning with other travel destinations, the government decided to eliminate these procedures.
While testing prior to entry or filling out forms is no longer required, travelers to New Zealand still are still required to test themselves upon arrival or on the first day of their trip. They also must test on the fifth or sixth days of arrival and if either tests are positive, they must take a PCR test.
Similar to other countries like the United States, Europe, Australia as well as many Pacific Island countries, passengers are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Furthermore, to gain entry into the country, they must obtain a traveler visa and adhere to the post-arrival testing requirements.
