Jetstar Lands First Flight From Australia In Bali After A Two-Year Hiatus

Jetstar Australia has officially resumed its flights to Bali after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The resumption of service saw its Boeing 787-8 land at the Ngurah Rai International Airport today, on March 14, 2022.

The company is excited to return back to Bali, “after two long years…we are confident that Bali will quickly regain its position as our most popular international tourist destination now that borders are open,” said Jetstar CEO Gareth Evans.

Prior to March 2020 when they halted flights, Jetstar Australia operated up to 85 return flights to Bali every week.

As Bali drops mandatory quarantine for international arrivals and Australia lifting its own travel restrictions, Jetstar is poised to recapture this market. Especially as Australian nationals are traditionally amongst the top tourists in Bali with flights.

This is also great news for the tourism industry in Bali as it was severely hit during the pandemic with reports that the tourism economy accounts for upwards of 50% of the economy.

Flight JQ 43 departed from Melbourne’s Tullamarine Airport on Monday morning and the 300 passengers were met with traditional dancers at Ngurah Rai airport.

Here is what you need to know about traveling to Bali:

There is no quarantine on arrivalYou need to be fully vaccinatedYou need medical travel insurance that covers COVID-19You need a negative PCR test before arrival, and to take a PCR test on the third day in BaliIf you test positive while you’re there, you only need to isolate for 5 days
