Ireland Removes All Testing And Vaccine Entry Restrictions For International Travelers

Ireland has removed all remaining Covid-19 entry restrictions for international arrivals, the government confirmed Sunday.

Travelers to Ireland will not require submitting proof of being vaccinated, proof of recovery, or a negative Covid-19 test before departure or after arrival.

Quarantine requirements as well as the obligation to complete a passenger locator form have been also scrapped.

“There are no post-arrival testing or quarantine requirements for travelers to Ireland. Travel carriers will not ask to check a PLF receipt prior to traveling to Ireland” the Irish government said in a statement.

“Any individual that develops Covid-19 symptoms while in Ireland should follow the HSE (Health Service Executive) guidance in relation to isolation and undertaking antigen or PCR testing as appropriate,” it reads.

I’ve just signed the regulations removing the Covid requirements for incoming international passengers (Passenger Locator Form, proof of vaccine status / test). Those traveling through Ireland to visit Northern Ireland must still adhere to UK travel guidelines, which include taking a rapid lateral flow test and filling out the UK Passenger Locator Form.

Entry rules were the only remaining Covid-19 restrictions in Ireland since the government had already lifted the mask-wearing mandate as well as the need to present a health certificate at indoor venues.

The decision comes ahead of the return of the St Patrick’s Day festival next week, which had been canceled since 2019.

Luckily, the Omicron wave is over. Or at least that is what the Minister of Health said earlier today.

However, even booster-jabbed folks may require a fourth shot this Fall, he remarked.

“I think it’s entirely possible that Niac will come back and say that for all of us, there would be an annual vaccine so you might get your flu vaccine and your COVID vaccine at the same time.

“We’ve still got a lot of people in hospital, and we still have a number of people are in ICU. Now thankfully, the numbers in ICU are falling, although the numbers in hospital are staying reasonably high.”

Officials said the government will continue to monitor the epidemiological situation both inside and outside the country, while the domestic situation is “mostly positive.”

Other countries removing all Covid-19 travel restrictions include Switzerland, Jordan, Bahrain and Norway.
