As of June 30, the coronavirus entry requirements will be lifted for all international travelers into Finland. The Finnish Interior Ministry approved changes so that travelers do not have to show vaccination status, proof of a negative test or testing upon arrival.
Finland now joins its neighboring countries (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania) who also have all removed entry requirements.
Prior to this news, there was a long list of restrictions put in front of travelers but will now be suspended. Previously the only travelers who could enter the country without restrictions included:
Finnish citizens or foreign nationalsThose from non-Schengen EU countries or countries on the EU’s green listThose with essential reasons
Travelers who previously didn’t fall within the groups mentioned above had to show their vaccination certificate along with a negative Covid test 72 hours after entry. These rules will remain in effect until the end of the month.
The guideline for mask wearing has also been suspended and it is now up to each individual’s discretion whether to wear one. However it is still recommended to wear masks in indoor spaces and on public transport by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare.
Following Finland dropping its coronavirus entry requirements, there are now only six countries in Europe with entry requirements: The Netherlands, Spain, Portugal, France, Luxembourg and Malta.
