Best Performing European Airports to Avoid Flight Cancelations and Delays

The airline industry has been put under pressure due to rising demand, and staff shortages are making it virtually impossible for airports and airlines to keep up.

However, a few have managed to survive and are currently the best at avoiding flight delays, despite the fact that numerous European airports have canceled flights and experienced major delays.

Between July 1 and July 10, the best-performing airports with the highest passenger numbers were in Italy, Spain, Romania, Ireland and France.

Best European Airports for Avoiding Flight Delays

Bergamo/Orio al Serio Airport (BGY) in Bergamo, Italy: 97% of Flights On TimeGran Canaria Airport (LPA) in Gran Canaria, Spain: 92% of Flights On TimeOtopeni International Airport (OTP) in Bucharest, Romania: 90% of Flights On TimeDublin International Airport (DUB) in Dublin, Ireland: 85% of Flights On TimeFontanarossa Airport (CTA) in Catania, Italy: 84% of Flights On TimeAdolfo Suarez-Barajas Airport (MAD) in Madrid, Spain: 81% of Flights On TimeAlicante Airport (ALC) in Province of Alicante, Spain: 80% of Flights On TimeMarseille Airport (MRS) in Marseille, France: 80% of Flights On TimeOrly Field (ORY) in Paris, France: 79% of Flights On TimeMalaga Airport (AGP) in Malaga, Spain: 76% of Flights On Time

However, the worst performing airport was Brussels Airport in Belgium, where 72% of aircraft were delayed.

The above airports are doing better than many other European airports, but no airport or airline can 100% assure you that you will not have delays or cancelations.

More than 50% of flights on CDG in Paris, LGW in London and AMS in Amsterdam were delayed in the same period as the above airports. Knowing which airports and airlines have the best chance of arriving on time is critical when planning a summer vacation.

It can be worthwhile to change travel arrangements if there is the chance to fly into a terminal that is operating more efficiently. For instance, from July 1 through July 10 only 38% of the flights at Paris’ Charles De Gaulle Airport (CDG) were on schedule. In the same time frame, 79 percent of flights at Orly Field Airport (ORY), also in Paris, departed on time. For the near future, ORY is unquestionably a better option for you and your family.
