2. The Outer Banks, North Carolina

You will not find urban hustle and bustle on the Outer Banks because there are no cities there, but do not worry – there’s still plenty to do. You can choose from a variety of sports, including sailing, surfing, biking, kayaking, and golf. There are a variety of breweries, cafes, ice cream parlors, casual restaurants, and fine dining establishments if you are more of a foodie. There are resorts, vacation rentals, bed & breakfasts and cottages in the OBX.

If you want to experience the flair of Mykonos or Santorini without traveling all the way to Europe, Catalina Island, located just a ferry ride from Los Angeles, is undoubtedly a must. There’s something to do for virtually every type of traveler, whether you want to spend all day on the water, visit cute stores and lively happy hours, or stroll along the Pacific Ocean at dusk. It has the ideal balance of daytime and evening offerings.
