MarketWatch and Glassdoor worked together to find companies that pay an average wage of $150,000 or more and are willing to provide entirely remote work opportunities.
Even if it seems too good to be true, it is not. At least not in accordance with the Glassdoor career site.
Here are the top five jobs that Glassdoor says can be done exclusively remotely, in no particular order:
Infrastructure architect
Salary: $152,500 per year
According to Indeed, an infrastructure architect plans an organization’s computer system, finds answers to potential challenges, and/or examines current code for potential glitches, bugs, or improvements. The architect may also be able to supervise and guide others.
Educational requirements: According to Glassdoor, you should ideally have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, IT, or a related field.
Database architect
Salary: $150,000 per year
Job description: According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, a database architect’s job includes designing, developing and maintaining an organization’s database, i.e., storing the data and establishing guidelines for how the data is used, coded, and kept secure.
Educational requirements: Most likely a bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a similar field.
Technology manager
Salary: $160,000 per year
Job description: According to Zip Recruiter, a technology manager’s responsibilities include managing technology initiatives, supervising or monitoring other employees and troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
Educational requirements: A bachelor’s or master’s degree most likely in computer science, information technology, or a related subjects.
Technical program manager
Salary: $157,000 per year
Job description: According to a Zip recruiter, a technical program manager is similar to a technology manager in that they oversee technical projects for companies, implement new systems or even develop new products. In addition to managing teams and tracking products, this role may also require you to report to higher-level employees.
Educational requirements: likely a bachelor’s degree in management or business.
Quantitative researcher
Salary: $175,000 per year
Job description: According to Zip Recruiter, a qualitative researcher conducts market research, collects data, analyzes trends and solves problems. The goal is to create strategic models and help executives make financial decisions.
Educational requirements: likely a degree in statistics, economics, or a comparable discipline.
