Changes in online behavior as people adjust to working, schooling, and consuming entertainment content from home are driving up demand for high-speed internet connectivity in the air.

For now, this is a list of 5 airlines that have already understood their client’s needs and are working to meet them:

United

United cut its Wi-Fi rates by 42 percent a few months ago, charging a new U$10 basic cost on domestic flights and an even lower $8 on some routes.

Members of the MileagePlus program can also earn a two-dollar discount on domestic flights.

Southwest

Southwest Airlines was a pioneer in providing low-cost in-flight Wi-Fi for as little as $8 per day.

Passengers who only need access to iMessage or WhatsApp while traveling and do not want to pay for Internet access, get the messages for free.

The airline also offers movies and live and on-demand television through its in-flight entertainment portal.

Alaska Airlines has also lowered its fare to $8 to keep up with the competition.

Customers can watch their favorite shows on Netflix, Prime, YouTube or any other major streaming site thanks to their internet speed.

Although satellite Wi-Fi is currently available on 79 percent of Alaska Airlines’ fleet, keep in mind that certain 737-9 MAX and all Q400 aircraft do not have this system yet.

Delta

Delta offers a cheaper service with clients paying only $5 for the duration of their flight.

Only Viasat-equipped jets, such as all A321ceos and select 737-800, 737-900, and 757-200s, are eligible for the service, meaning it is available on nearly half of all domestic flights.

Alaska Airlines has also lowered its fare to $8 to keep up with the competition.

When the project is completed, Spirit expects to offer Wi-Fi throughout its fleet.
