The northern capital of Thailand has always been the place to be for holidays and festivals. Places to celebrate NYE in Koh Phangan

Mindless Full Moon Party at Koh Phangan Island

At Ko Phangan Island, the most mindless, let-everything-go-to-dogs total abandon party takes place every NYE. If you’re the kind that wants the roller coaster to stop or even maintain some order, this isn’t the party for you.

Many legendary parties take place on this little island in the Gulf of Thailand throughout the year, but the NYE party is the craziest of the lot. Many thousands of party-goers crowd into Haad Rin Beach to drink, party, dance, eat, drink, party, dance, enjoy beautiful beaches and more all night on NYE, till the sun comes up. Of course, there are the obligatory fireworks at midnight, if you’re not too boozed to enjoy them.

Busy Vibes at Koh Phi Phi Island

Check out this, sneak peek video from 2017 PARTY!

It’s definitely the busiest island in Thailand and one of the best NYE spots. If you like crowds and great party vibe, you will definitely enjoy a lot of that on the beaches of Koh Phi Phi. It gets booked out fast, so act quickly. In case you miss out, you’ll find some other options in Krabi for sure.

Also, you should be aware of tourist overload, and if you do not prefer super touristic vibes you should avoid this place for NYE. It’s very hard to find a calm corner with no people on this island.

Koh Samui is a very “flexible” island that fits almost any type of traveler that comes to Thailand. Comparing to its “sister island Koh Phangan” it’s a bit bigger and offers more activities. You can enjoy a nice family holiday or your romantic honeymoon but on the other side, you can also find great party places full of travelers and backpackers.

If you are planning something more relaxing then head to Maenam Beach and Choeng Mon Beach which are famous for their relaxed and family-friendly atmosphere.

For the biggest party head to Chaweng Beach or Nikki Beach where they organize giant parties every NEW year. These places sometimes celebrate until the 2nd of January (not just 1st), so get ready for a neverending party! You can enjoy famous DJs and some of the biggest fireworks in the country.

Make sure you come for at least 4-5 days. Koh Samui has a lot to offer and you should definitely discover more of it, not just party. You can experience great snorkeling, diving, waterfalls, beaches and check out some of the most beautiful temples.

Koh Lanta Island

Definitely a bit less touristy part of Thailand with lovely beaches and vibes. It’s slightly of the usual tourist route so it gets a bit less of the annoying atmosphere and more of hippie culture. Nevertheless, they throw a great new years eve parties as well with DJs, bands and live music.

Koh Lanta is definitely the best spot for Digital Nomads in Thailand and also one of the most popular destinations for backpackers and long-term travelers.

This short video from 2 years ago explains it better in 50 seconds than in 1000 words:

Party At Vertigo and Moon Bar And Night Bazaar

lifestyle

Vertigo Moon and Bar is a night bazaar that is located along the Chao Phraya River. This is one of the best Thailand destinations for NYE parties, offering the perfect combination of a vibrant night bazaar and mall.

The beautifully-lit and decorated streets are chock full of restaurants offering fabulous NYE treats, and many outdoor stalls for cool shopping. Join the NYE countdown and a fireworks display over the river, making this one of the best NY experiences of your life.

Clubbing NYE Away At Bangkok’s Khao San Road

lifestyle

Khao San Road’s strip of clubs and outdoor bars take on a special vibe on NYE. The usual seedy bars and houses of pleasure are there for you to indulge, of course, but new rules make it possible to enjoy a less-than-rowdy NYE here.

So go ahead, indulge in roast scorpions, put your head in a liquor bucket and guzzle away, and dance the whole night at a club.

NYE Cruise On the Chao Phraya River

lifestyle

The Chao Phraya River is the very main artery of Bangkok. It’s true you can bring in the NY from one of the many view-rich rooftop bars alongside the river, but why not on the river itself? Sign up for a river cruise that comes with a buffet and live band to boot.

Enjoy watching the entire river light up when fireworks explode from multiple riverboats at midnight. Stop at one of the many restaurants lining the river for an exclusive NYE dinner, with lucky draw prizes and discounts to boot.

NYE Clubbing Bangkok

travel

Bangkok is famous for its nightclubs and partying scene! Most of them are organizing som special NYE events that you definitely wanna check out after countdown and keep partying until early morning.

Here are a few places we recommend:

Insanity NightclubOnyxThe Club at Koicheck out: a full list of TOP 10 Clubs

Family-friendly Party at Bangkok’s Central World Street

Central World is a massive shopping mall, one of Southeast Asia’s biggest malls. On NYE, the roads that lead to this mall are closed to traffic. Over a million people arrive here to witness the most incredible fireworks display in all of Thailand.

Then there’s the crazy shopping, the drinking, the partying, the dancing, the eating all night. The only negative we can think of is that the place can get too crowded.

Avoid calling for cab service to get there; the cab drivers will usually be drunk. Instead, take the BTS rapid train which plies free service all night in honor of NYE. Get off at Chidlom Station and make your way to Central World, one of the best places to visit in Thailand.

TIP: In case you’re visiting solo.. check out some of the BEST Hostels in Bangkok for Backpackers and you will definitely spend an awesome NYE with other travelers.

travel

The Walking Street in Pattaya is known as a hip party spot, with innumerable bars and houses of pleasure offering everything that one could possibly desire. It’s just a kilometer in length but so full of a mix of the fantastic and the ribald, it’ll keep you hooked all night.

Once you’ve had your fill of Walking Street, head out to one of the many beaches in Pattaya and join an impromptu beach party for the NYE countdown with fireworks. Walking Street is one of the main Thailand points of interest for travelers.

Conclusion

Thailand is a hugely famous holiday destination that has charmed travelers with its pristine beaches, amazing landmarks, food, and culture. It comes as no surprise that Thailand should also be the hottest New Year’s Eve party destination in the world.

For those who prefer to celebrate NYE uninhibited without too many restrictions, Thailand’s rooftop pub parties and beach parties offer the best solution.

After your NYE party, you can take a trip to some of the islands or beaches to relax and detox from parties. Thailand has a lot to offer, so it’s better to come for at least 10 days and properly discover the culture, food and a few different regions.
