-----NEW OASIS OF THE SEAS CRUISE REVIEW------
Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas ushered in a new era of cruising when she debuted in 2009. In 2019, this game changing vessel was further enhanced with several new features and amenities. Does this original record-breaking cruise ship still deliver the WOW factor? ABSOLUTELY!
-----DINING ON OASIS OF THE SEAS------
Our Amplified Oasis of the Seas review always dives into the food offerings. There are several casual eats to sample on the ship, including the poolside El Loco Fresh Mexican restaurant, the Park Café with its famous Royal Kummelweck sandwich, the Boardwalk Dog House, Sorrento’s Pizza, and more. There are so many great venues on Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas.
While an up-charge, we also love the Playmakers Sports Bar and Arcade. In our opinion, the chicken wings, nachos, and other snacks at Playmakers are worth the additional costs.
The Main Dining Room on Oasis of the Seas offers the same menus that you find fleetwide with some highlights being the tiger shrimp, the medium-rare prime rib, the Vidalia onion tart, and lobster night. Overall, the main dining room experience on Oasis of the Seas was above average in terms of both food quality and service.
For specialty dining, you will find the cruise line’s classic American-style steakhouse, Chops Grille, along with 150 Central Park and Giovanni’s Table in Central Park.
There is also the brand-new Portside BBQ, which is the perfect addition to the Royal Caribbean fleet and a great value when compared to other similar venues on competitor cruise lines. I went to town with a signature combo featuring ribs, sausage, mac and cheese, and cornbread.
-----ENTERTAINMENT ON OASIS OF THE SEAS------
During the daytime, there is plenty to enjoy on the Amplified Oasis of the Seas, including the new Caribbean Pool Deck with the Perfect Storm trio of waterslides, the adults-only Solarium, and the many activities on the Sports Deck. There’s mini-golf, a zipline, the Flowrider surf simulator, rock-climbing walls, and the Ultimate Abyss dry slide.
Of course, there is also trivia, game shows, ice skating, and more to enjoy.
At night, the ship comes alive with live music, game shows, karaoke, and signature entertainment in several venues throughout the ship. From headliner acts and the Broadway production of CATS in the main theater, to comedy shows in Blaze, and ice shows in Studio B, there is never a lack of entertainment. Our personal favorite show was Aqua80 which occurred in the Aqua Theater on the Boardwalk of the ship.
-----BARS AND LOUNGES ON OASIS OF THE SEAS------
Royal Caribbean did update some of the bars and lounges during the ship’s amplification process. The Champagne Bar was replaced by the Bionic Bar. The cruise line also rebranded Dazzles to the Music Hall.
Another new addition to the amplified Oasis of the Seas cruise ship is the popular pool bar, Lime and Coconut. This ship has not one, not two, not three, but four outdoor Lime and Coconut bars!
Of course, the ship also features all of the favorite Royal Caribbean and Oasis Class bars and lounges. These include the Pub, Schooner Bar, Boleros, and Vintages, in addition to the Oasis Class signatures like the Rising Tide Bar and Trellis Bar.
