Disney Cruise Line has marked a milestone with the grand opening of its new cruise terminal at Port Everglades.

Monday’s event celebrated the terminal’s opening and Disney Cruise Line’s second year-round homeport in Everglades.

Upon arrival at the terminal, guests are welcomed into the enchanting world of Disney and Pixar’s “Finding Nemo” and the signature mouse ears also found in Port Canaveral.

The terminal, spanning over 104,000 square feet, has been exclusively reimagined by Walt Disney Imagineering to provide a seamless embarkation experience for Disney Cruise Line guests.

New Beginning

Port Everglades CEO and Port Director Jonathan Daniels shared his enthusiasm, “Disney Cruise Line is adding a new dimension to the Port Everglades experience. We are excited to embark on this journey with Disney and diversify our cruise portfolio.”

Broward County Mayor Lamar P. Fisher and other federal, state, and local leaders attended the grand opening. “Disney Cruise Line’s presence will offer more vacation options, boost our local economy, and create over 1,100 direct local jobs,” Fisher stated.

Upcoming Sailings and Long-Term Plans

The Disney Dream is set to start sailing from Port Everglades on November 20, followed by the Disney Magic on May 9, 2024. These cruises will offer a mix of three-, four-, and five-night journeys to The Bahamas and the Caribbean.

As part of a 15-year agreement with Broward County, Disney Cruise Line will see a minimum of 10.6 million passenger movements, with potential extensions bringing even more.

Starting fall 2023, one ship will homeport at Port Everglades year-round, with a second seasonal ship joining in 2025.

The move leaves most of Disney’s ships homeporting in Florida and seasonal voyages from New Orleans, Galveston, San Diego, and in the northwest to Alaska.

Guests traveling to Orlando for pre- or post-cruise visits can now take the Brightline train between Orlando and Fort Lauderdale to avoid the three-hour drive and port parking fees.
