Carnival Reiterates Importance of Appropriate Attire in Ports of Call

Carnival Cruise Line emphasizes the importance of appropriate attire in different ports of call and being mindful of local laws in various countries.

This reminder comes after an incident on the Carnival Venezia’s Southern Caribbean voyage, where a guest was escorted by Barbados police back to the ship for wearing camouflage clothing, a prohibited attire in several Caribbean nations.

Despite claims of insufficient notice, Carnival stated that guidelines were communicated through onboard announcements and newsletters. The line stresses the importance of respecting local dress codes to avoid such incidents.

Residential Cruise Line Fails to Acquire Target Ship

It’s not looking good for the up-and-coming residence at sea market.

The acquisition of the former AIDA ship by another cruise line now presents a setback for the startup Life at Sea, operated by Miray Cruises, which had hoped to purchase the same ship, AIDAaura.

This missed opportunity delayed Life at Sea’s launch, a common issue among residential cruise startups.

But they are not the only ones having trouble producing a ship.

Storylines, another startup, ambitiously plans to build a new cruise ship despite skepticism and financial challenges, with its launch postponed to late 2026.

Both companies have already taken in millions of dollars with no ship to show.

The World, a residence ship launched in 2002, is the only notable exception.

Titanic’s First Class Menu Sells for Over $100k in UK Auction

A rare menu from the Titanic’s first-class restaurant, dating back to April 11, 1912, was auctioned off in the UK for $101,600.

This menu, showcasing dishes like spring lamb and XXX was part of a more extensive auction that included other Titanic memorabilia, such as a pocket watch and a deck blanket.

The pocket watch, which belonged to a Russian immigrant who perished in the 1912 disaster, fetched $118,700.

A deck blanket from the Titanic, featuring the White Star Line logo and used on a lifeboat, was sold for $117,000.

These items and the menu were among the dozens of transportation memorabilia auctioned, with the menu’s origin traced to a Canadian historian’s collection, discovered accidentally in a 1960s photo album.
