Carnival Jubilee Receives Iconic Winged Funnel [PHOTOS]

Four days after her successful float-out, Carnival Jubilee reached another milestone by installing her iconic winged funnel. The unmistakable red, white, and blue color funnel has been on every newly built Carnival ship since the 80s.

The trademarked winged funnel or the whale tail was installed on July 25 while drydocked at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany.

Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy remarked on its importance, “Seeing Carnival Jubilee sport the Carnival funnel, the quintessential symbol she’s a ship made for fun, is a gratifying milestone that builds on the excitement after just watching her float out and reveal another important symbol – the Texas star on her bow that signals her Texas pride.”

Offering Distinctive Onboard Attractions

As the ship was crowned with its distinctive funnel, construction was underway for BOLT, the first rollercoaster at sea onboard Excel-class ships Mardi Gras and Carnival Celebration.

Other onboard attractions include Emeril’s Bistro 717 (the third Emeril Lagasse restaurant at sea) and two new zones called Currents and The Shores. Spanning Decks 6 and 7, they promise to combine bars, dining areas, and live music with immersive technology-powered experiences.

Once final touches, such as painting, decking, and exterior awnings, are complete, the ship will begin sea trials in August. This involves assessing its operational systems, including safety features, navigation, propulsion, and maneuverability.

Scheduled to leave for her maiden voyage on December 23, 2023, she will offer 7-night sailings to the Western Caribbean region. At full capacity, the 183,521-ton vessel can accommodate over 6,600 cruisers within her 2,687 staterooms. Carnival Jubilee is the third Carnival Cruise Line ship powered by LNG.
